Working Hard

We have still been working hard.

The students were SO excited to take their first spelling test this week!

 

We have also been playing math games to review the math skills we have been learning.

 

We also learned about Matter this week.  We sorted pictures to demonstrate solid, liquid, and gas.

 



Our First Week of School

We have had a great start to the school year! 

This week we have been working a lot on procedures.

 

We read the book Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes and talked about the way she felt when her friends made fun of her name.  We discussed that it "crumbled her heart."  The student's signed our crumbled heart to show that they would work hard to be nice to others this school year.

 

The students LOVED sharing their All About Me Bags.

 

 

I also introduced "Daily 5" this week.  This will serve as our stations this year during small group reading time.  The first station of Daily 5 is "Read to Self."  The students have been building their stamina while reading to themselves from their book tubs. 

 

It has been a great first week!
